Home to 2 monthly freestyles - 'Minstead Meltdown' and 'Jive Juke box'

The 'Minstead Meltdown' Friday freestyle will usually be held on the 2nd Friday of each month with now around 160 people attending each event.

Thank you for your feedback and suggestions and that overall you liked the idea of extending the chillout session which is now an hour long. The music will be mainly uptempo (115-150 bpm) during the main part of the evening, with the occasional slower track mixed in (nothing slower than 110bpm). Then from 11pm, we will play purely funky and chilled r&b, blues, latin and soul until midnight (90-115 bpm). All the music played during the chill out is suitable for people who just want to jive slowly, but dancers who try other styles such as Blues, Tango, WCS or smooth/slotted jive will also feel right at home with the mix played. This event will be an ultimate music mix of old & new favourites, plus introducing new finds and hidden gems to keep things fresh. Top DJ Richard P, who is already massively popular in the area, is the resident DJ providing the music mix.

The famous Minstead 'Jive Juke Box' request night freestyle will continue on the last Friday of every month with either Richard P, Richard O or both! at the DJ helm mixing your choices. This night is really buzzing with numbers averaging around the 180 mark,  and usually at capacity by 9.30pm. The Jive Jukebox will keep to the same format with a dedicated last 1/2 hour session of the best of blues, smooth, chillout and funky R&B choices.

We have decided to limit the numbers at both freestyles to no more than 180 dancers to ensure there is still room to dance comfortably so everyone can enjoy the night. The early bird booking price is just £6!* The door price is £9, but we suggest if you decide to pay on the door, that you arrive as early as possible to avoid having to queue waiting for others to leave.

*This early bird price applies to online bookings made by the Monday preceding the freestyle you are booking. After this, you  can still book online for £8 until 7pm on the day of the event which gurantees your entry. Alternatively, you can pay on the door - subject to the venue not being full.
